The letters in the first volume reveal many known and unknown facts from the early days of long 23 years of struggling life of the great hero in history, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Although the first volume of the book Letters of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was compiled based on the letters from 1948-1950, this volume sheds light on his involvement in student politics while revealing his humanitarian spirit even before the partition of 1947. The arrest and a subsequent cancellation of his studentship for his support for the legitimate demands of the fourth class employees of the University of Dhaka, an arrest during the strike program for the demand of Bangla as the national language, outlines for various movements with respect to the protection of Bengali's interests including the ones against the mismanagement of Nazimuddin government and abolition of zamindari system etc. are bloomed in his letters.

The loneliness of prison life, suffering, sending letters to important historical political figures from prison, inquiring the whereabouts of family members and relatives, image of his struggles while keeping the faith in almighty Allah are portrayed in his letters. Similarly, a fragment of how a leader is respected and loved by his family, the common people, fellow political fighters, friends, relatives is shown; along with this, their worries for him while he was imprisoned are presented in all the letters sent to him.
