This love story, which has been described as the sequel to The Notebook, follows the life of a couple as they make preparations for their daughter’s wedding and rediscover love in the way!

Summary of the Book

In The Wedding, Wilson has been married to Jane for the past 30 years. As their daughter’s wedding date draws closer, Wilson realises that something is missing. He reminisces that after all these years of togetherness with his wife, he has taken her for granted for too long. The spark has gone missing somewhere down the line in their relationship.

Although Wilson is certain of the fact that he loves Jane more than ever before, he somehow finds his emotions hard to communicate. Estate attorney by profession, he has dedicated his life to provide for his family. Automatic comparisons arise between his marriage and that of his in laws, as epitomised in the novel The Notebook.

As their 30th anniversary approaches, he decides that he has to win back his wife, or their marriage may be in danger. When Jane goes to New York to visit their son, Wilson becomes obsessed with the fact that he is losing the love of his life and must make amends.

Anyone who has been in a faltering relationship can relate to this Nicholas Sparks trademark love story. In the wild, hectic week before the wedding, Wilson and Jane grow close together, with a lot of help of close friends and relatives and he finally manages to express all that has been weighing his mind for so long.

There is hardly anything remarkable about the main characters in The Wedding. This very quality makes them more real, and the reader can easily relate to them. Nicholas Sparks is a master storyteller, and he connects with the reader at a very emotional level.
