Summary Of The Book
Nicholas Sparks’ A Bend In The Road is a love story that revolves around the protagonist Miles Ryan who works as a deputy sheriff in New Bern, North Carolina. Miles is living in a mess after the death of his wife Missy who died in an two years ago. Missy was Miles first love and Miles is sure that she would be his last as well.
Miles misses her badly and along with the emotion of love, there is another emotion that dominates his thoughts and mind. He craves to get justice for his wife and punish that unknown driver who separated him from his wife Missy. It seems as his life has come to a standstill and life has come to an end. And now he lives just with the aim of finding that unknown driver.
Then comes Sarah Andrews who teaches his son Jonah in his school. Sarah has had her own troubled past with her husband in Baltimore and left with an aim to start a smooth life in New Bern where she starts working as a teacher. Sparks highlights that the emotional wounds of Sarah make her feel the hurt clearly visible in Jonah’s as well as Miles’ eyes. Soon she starts entering Miles life and both of them find emotional support from each other. Love happens unexpectedly between Miles and Sarah as they explore that they are capable of laughing with each other after so much hurt.
However, a bend in the road comes when Miles and Sarah get to know of an unexpected secret that will change their lives and everything between them. In this novel, the author effectively portrays the harsh truths and unsurpassed sweetness of life. About Nicholas Sparks
Nicholas Sparks is a bestselling internationally acclaimed author who is famously known for his romantic novels. Sparks has authored several other novels including A Walk To Remember, Safe Haven, The Notebook, The Best Of Me, The Lucky One, Message In A Bottle, The Last Song, Nights in Rodanthe, The Choice, True Believer, The Wedding, At First Sight, and The Rescue etc. Born on 31st December 1965 in Nebraska, Nicholas Sparks graduated from Bella Vista High School as valedictorian and later did his Masters in business finance. His first two novels remained unpublished that he wrote in 1985 and 1989.
