About the Book

About the Author
Born exactly 300 years after Galileo’s death, Professor Stephen William Hawking was an English mathematician and theoretical physicist. Hawking always wanted to pursue mathematics, but since it wasn’t available at University College he chose to pursue physics. In 1963, Hawking was diagnosed with ALS. But, that didn’t stop him from fulfilling his destiny and he went to receive as many as 13 honorary degrees. His noted works include A Brief History of Time, Brief Answers to the Big Questions and The Grand Design, among others.

স্টিফেন হকিং (৮ই জানুয়ারি, ১৯৪২ – ১৪ই মার্চ, ২০১৮) একজন ইংরেজ তাত্ত্বিক পদার্থবিজ্ঞানী , গণিতবিদ, বিশ্বতাত্ত্বিক ও বিজ্ঞান-বিষয়ক জনপ্রিয় ধারার লেখক। তাঁকে ২০শ শতকের অন্যতম সেরা তাত্ত্বিক পদার্থবিজ্ঞানীদের একজন হিসেবে গণ্য করা হয়। হকিং যুক্তরাজ্যের ইংল্যান্ডের ক্যামব্রিজ বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের তাত্ত্বিক মহাবিশ্বতত্ত্ব গবেষণা কেন্দ্রের (সেন্টার ফর থিওরেটিক্যাল কসমোলজি) প্রধান ছিলেন। তিনি ১৯৭৯ থেকে ২০০৯ সাল পর্যন্ত ক্যামব্রিজ বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের লুকাসীয় অধ্যাপক ছিলেন এবং ২০০৯ সালের ১ অক্টোবর এই পদ থেকে অবসর নেন। এছাড়াও তিনি কেমব্রিজ নগরীর গনভিল অ্যান্ড কিজ কলেজের সভ্য (ফেলো) হিসেবে কাজ করেন।
