নিপুণ কর্মকুশল এ কে এম শহীদুল হকের জন্ম ১ ফেব্রুয়ারি ১৯৫৯ সাল। জন্মেছেন শরিয়তপুরের নড়িয়া উপজেলার সম্ভ্রান্ত পরিবারে। কৃতিত্বের সঙ্গে স্কুল কলেজ অতিক্রম করে প্রবেশ করেন দেশের সর্বোচ্চ বিদ্যাপীঠ ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে। সেখান থেকে ১৯৮৪ সালে সমাজকল্যাণে স্নাতকোত্তর ডিগ্রি অর্জন করেন। পরে এখান থেকে এলএলবি এবং একটি বেসরকারি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় থেকে এমবিএ ডিগ্রি অর্জন করেন। এই দীপ্তকীর্তি মানুষটির কর্মজীবনের সূচনা হয় ১৯৮৬ সালে সহকারী পুলিশ সুপার হিসেবে। জনাব এ কে এম শহীদুল হক তার কর্মজীবনে বিভিন্ন গুরুত্বপূর্ণ পদে থেকে ঋদ্ধ কর্মদক্ষতায় ছড়িয়েছেন সাফল্যের হিরণয় দ্যুতি। তিনি কর্মরত ছিলেন ঢাকা মেট্রোপলিটন পুলিশের পুলিশ কমিশনার, চট্টগ্রাম ও রাজশাহী রেঞ্জের ডিআইজি এবং সিরাজগঞ্জ, চট্টগ্রাম, মৌলভীবাজার ও চাঁদপুরের এসপি হিসেবে। তিনি জাতিসংঘ শান্তিরক্ষা মিশনের কম্বোডিয়া, এঙ্গোলা এবং সুদানে কৃতিত্বের সাথে দায়িত্ব পালন করে জাতিসংঘের শান্তিপদকে ভূষিত হন। ২০১২ সালে আমেরিকার নিউজার্সি স্টেটের মেয়র তাকে কমিউনিটি পুলিশিং কার্যক্রমে অবদানের স্বীকৃতিস্বরূপ বিশেষ সম্মাননা প্রদান করেন। তিনি তার চাকরিজীবনে অনন্য অবদানের স্বীকৃতিতে বাংলাদেশ পুলিশ পদক (পিপিএম)- ভূষিত হয়েছেন। দীপ্তোজ্জ্বল এ কে এম শহীদুল হক বর্তমানে পুলিশের মহাপরিদর্শক (আইজিপি) হিসেবে কর্মরত আছেন।
