About Stephen Hawking
Stephen Hawking is an English theoretical physicist, cosmologist and the Director of Research at the Centre for Theoretical Cosmology within the University of Cambridge. He is best recognized in the scientific community for his collaborative works with Roger Penrose on gravitational singularity theorems in the framework of general relativity, and the theoretical prediction that black holes emit radiation, often called Hawking radiation.
Best known for his A Brief History of Time, Black Holes and Baby Universes and Other Essays, God Created the Integers and The Grand Design, Hawking has a motor neuron disease related to Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). He is almost completely paralysed and uses a speech generating device to communicate.

স্টিফেন হকিং (৮ই জানুয়ারি, ১৯৪২ – ১৪ই মার্চ, ২০১৮) একজন ইংরেজ তাত্ত্বিক পদার্থবিজ্ঞানী , গণিতবিদ, বিশ্বতাত্ত্বিক ও বিজ্ঞান-বিষয়ক জনপ্রিয় ধারার লেখক। তাঁকে ২০শ শতকের অন্যতম সেরা তাত্ত্বিক পদার্থবিজ্ঞানীদের একজন হিসেবে গণ্য করা হয়। হকিং যুক্তরাজ্যের ইংল্যান্ডের ক্যামব্রিজ বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের তাত্ত্বিক মহাবিশ্বতত্ত্ব গবেষণা কেন্দ্রের (সেন্টার ফর থিওরেটিক্যাল কসমোলজি) প্রধান ছিলেন। তিনি ১৯৭৯ থেকে ২০০৯ সাল পর্যন্ত ক্যামব্রিজ বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের লুকাসীয় অধ্যাপক ছিলেন এবং ২০০৯ সালের ১ অক্টোবর এই পদ থেকে অবসর নেন। এছাড়াও তিনি কেমব্রিজ নগরীর গনভিল অ্যান্ড কিজ কলেজের সভ্য (ফেলো) হিসেবে কাজ করেন।
