This volume draws on a series of memorial lectures presented by the author to honor five recognized heroes of the democratic and liberation struggle for Bangladesh, Ishtiaq Ahmed, Abdur Razzak, Sarwar Murshid, Noorjehan Murshid and Tajuddin Ahmad. The publication points to the positive developments registered across Bangladesh society over the years but also draws attention to departures from the spirit of the liberation struggle.
