অস্কার ওয়াইল্ড (১৮৫৪-১৯০০) অস্কার ওয়াইল্ড জাতিতে আইরিশ। জন্মেছিলেন ডাবলিনে ১৮৫৪ সালে। বাবা উইলিয়াম ওয়াইল্ড ছিলেন খ্যাতিমান ডাক্তার। মা জেন ফ্রান্সিসকা এলজি কবিতা লিখতেন। অস্কার ওয়াইল্ড কবি, ছােটগল্পকার, ঔপন্যাসিক ও নাট্যকার। ৩৪ বছর বয়সে প্রকাশিত হয় তার বই ‘দি হ্যাপি প্রিন্স অ্যান্ড আদার স্টোরিজ। ছাত্র জীবনে তিনি ছিলেন মেধাবী এবং বই পাঠে। তার আগ্রহ ছিল অন্তহীন । প্রবন্ধ ও ব্যঙ্গ রচনাতেও খ্যাতি ছিল তার। বহু ভাষায় দক্ষ ছিলেন তিনি। আগ্রহী ছিলেন রােমান ও গ্রীক ভাষা-সাহিত্য-সংস্কৃতিতে। ফরাসি ভাষায় লিখেছিলেন সালােম’ নামে একটি নাটক । শিল্পের জন্য শিল্প’ আন্দোলনের তিনি ছিলেন অন্যতম ধারক । বক্তা হিসেবেও খ্যাতিমান ছিলেন। বন্ধুত্ব ছিল বহু খ্যাতিমান লেখকের সাথে। এদের মধ্যে আমেরিকান লেখক হেনরী লংফেলাে, অলিভার ওয়েনডেল হােমস এবং ওয়াল্ট হুইটম্যান অন্যতম। ১৯০০ সালের ৩০ নভেম্বর প্যারিসে দেহ ত্যাগ করেন তিনি ।
